Our Passionate Coach

Taylor Crabb

Taylor Crabb, a renowned professional beach volleyball player, has established himself as one of the premier defenders in the sport. Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, Taylor's journey in volleyball began on the sandy courts of the Outrigger Canoe Club. His natural talent and passion for the game were evident from a young age, and he honed his skills playing both indoor and beach volleyball.

Taylor attended Long Beach State University, where he achieved remarkable success. As a three-time All-American and National Player of the Year, he demonstrated his prowess as an outside hitter. After a brief stint playing professional indoor volleyball in France, Taylor transitioned fully to beach volleyball in 2015. His breakout moment came when he and his brother Trevor secured a third-place finish at the prestigious Manhattan Beach Open (MBO) that year.

Throughout his career, Taylor has accumulated numerous accolades, including two AVP MVP awards and six Best Defender titles. His quick reflexes, strategic play, and exceptional defensive skills have made him a formidable opponent on the sand. In addition to his AVP successes, Taylor and his partner Jake Gibb qualified for the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. Although he tested positive for COVID-19 upon arrival in Japan, his determination and resilience remained unwavering.

In 2023, Taylor finally captured the Manhattan Beach Open title alongside his partner Taylor Sander, a victory that was both thrilling and cathartic. This win solidified his status among the greats in beach volleyball and marked a significant milestone in his career.

Off the court, Taylor is known for his humility and dedication to the sport. He frequently participates in various tournaments and training sessions, continually seeking to improve his game. Taylor agreed to be a guest coach at Beach Elite Academy in the Summer of 2024, where he shares his knowledge and experience with aspiring volleyball players in an area that doesn't receive much attention for it's volleyball prowess. His long-time friendship with John Sutton, the co-founder of Beach Elite, underscores his commitment to fostering the next generation of talent in the sport as he has helped John evolve his game. John & Taylor (alongside Taylor Sander) are the founder of MeaKai, a lifestyle athleisure brand focused on building great quality products that set a new style for the beach while also providing for a sustainable future for our World and for our athletes.
